Honey oatmeal is a cozy, creamy, naturally sweetened breakfast made with rolled oats, milk, or water, and a touch of honey. It's simple, wholesome, and endlessly customizable with your favorite fruits, nuts, or spices.
Melt butter in a medium pot. Add rolled oats and toast them, stirring frequently for about 3-4 minutes, until fragrant. 1 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon butter.
Pour in the water and milk. Add the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with the lid tilted slightly to prevent overflow. Simmer for about 10 minutes for a chewier texture or 15 minutes for creamier, softer oats.1 cup water, ½ cup milk, ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract , ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, 2 pinches salt.
Turn off the heat and let the oatmeal cool slightly, uncovered, for 2–3 minutes. Then stir in the honey.
Spoon honey oats into bowls, add fruit, berries, nuts and drizzle with more honey to taste. 1 tablespoon raw honey, optional toppings: berries, fruit, nuts, seeds
