Learn how to make a fluffy omelette in the air fryer without standing over the stove. Just mix the eggs, and seasonings, stir in your favorite add-ins, pour, and let the air fryer do the rest.

Two large omeltte halves are stacked on each other facing the cut side towards the camera lense. The omelette is fluffy and thick with visible yellow, red and green vegetables inside and golden brown top.

I have been using my air fryer for about five years now. Omelette was one of the first recipes I tried, and it's still a regular in my kitchen.
Air fryer breakfasts are easy, effortless, and perfect for very busy mornings. Once I found the perfect way to make air fryer omelettes, it is even easier to prepare it in an air fryer than on the stove. It is hands-off cooking with minimal mess - very important for busy mornings.

And to complete your breakfast, try it with my air fryer breakfast potatoes.

The secret to a fluffy air fryer omelette

Yes, you can prepare a perfect omelette with a soft and fluffy texture in any air fryer. I have made this recipe a lot of times, and it really works by knowing the science and following a few essential tips below:

    • Add milk, sour cream, or heavy cream to increase the the water content, which will add steam that helps keep the omelette fluffy.
    • Cook it in an air-fryer safe dish ( like a ramekin, cake pan, or silicone mold). The dish will prevent direct exposure to the air, keeping more moisture inside.
    • Cover it with foil to prevent moisture loss and if you do not want it to brown on top. I usually forget to cover it, but it still turns out great

What is the best baking dish to use in the air fryer?

Any oven-safe dish or pan is safe to use in the air fryer. My problem was to find a small pan that fits into my basket air fryer.

So if I make 4 egg omelette with veggies, I use a 9-inch cake pan lined with parchment paper, so the eggs don't leak through. I also like to use ramekin for making 2 egg omelette.

Other great options are silicone molds, oven-safe glass dishes, or even a mini cast-iron skillet.

    Ingredients needed

You can find the full list of ingredients and quantities in the printable recipe card at the end of this post.

    • Eggs: I recommend using room-temperature eggs if possible.
    • Milk - Just a little bit of milk or water will make this omelette more fluffy and it will raise better. There are lots of debates on adding milk or water to eggs. This recipe turns out great no matter what you pick.
    • Salt and black pepper: add to taste and your liking.
    • Add-ins (optional): I like to add bacon bits, diced bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, green onions, and fresh parsley.
Labeled recipe ingredients on the white background: fresh parsley, slices of yellow bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, four eggs, bacon bits, small bowl with spices and smal and a bowl with some milk.

Whisk eggs: in a medium bowl, add 4 eggs.  Whisk them until uniform in color with a slightly frothy. Do not over whisk. Now, add milk, a few pinches of salt, and a few pinches of black pepper. Whisk again for 10-15 seconds, just until everything is well combined.

Stir in any add-ins: now, you can add bacon, any diced fresh veggies, or fresh herbs. Mix in so they are evenly distributed.

The second image shows the same bowl with already added yellow, red and green vegetables. There is a kitchen towel on top.

Pour the egg mixture. Line your baking pan with parchment paper. You can also spray it with non-stick cooking spray (non-aerosol) or grease it with butter. Pour the egg mixture into the pan.

Air fryer your omelette. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F for 3-5 minutes. After that, take out the air fryer basket and carefully place there the pan with your omelette inside the basket. Air fry the 4 egg omelette at 350° F for 13-15 minutes and  2 egg one for 8-10 minutes. The omelette should be golden brown on top and if you raise the side of the omelette from the bottom, there should be no raw eggs running out. If it's still not fully cooked, air fry it for another 2-3 minutes or until fully cooked.

Process shot collage picture consitsting of 2 images: one shows the cake pan with still uncooked eggs. The second one is the cake pan inside the airfyer basket with already cooked golden omelette in it.

Serving and leftovers. Serve your omelette right away. If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

    Tasty tip

Serve the omelette with homemade breakfast sausage, a drizzle of sour cream, and some chopped fresh dill on top.

    Variations & customization

You can be creative with omelette by mixing in your different fillings and ingredients.

    • Cheese omelette: Add your favorite cheese, such as shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella, feta, or goat cheese.
    • Mediterranean omelette: Mix in feta cheese, diced tomatoes, black olives, and spinach. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce before serving.
    • Spicy omelette: Add some diced jalapeno peppers, red pepper flakes or pepper jack cheese.

    • You can use water, sour cream or heavy cream instead of milk.
    • If you make a 2 egg omelette, use smaller baking dish such as ramekin.
    • The pan will be very hot, wait few minutes before removing it from the air fryer. Use oven gloves.
