Oat milk matcha latte is creamy and delicious hot matcha latte made at home with only a few ingredients and no special equipment.
There is nothing better than a cup of hot oat milk matcha in the late afternoon. I will always pick this drink over regular coffee latte if I need to boost my energy later in the day.
On a summer day, I prefer making this iced matcha with fresh strawberries.
It took me some tries and errors to make a perfect hot oat milk matcha latte at home. I always wanted to make at home the same matcha latte you can get at your favorite coffee shop - a frothy, creamy, naturally sweet drink with grassy notes and a hint of bitterness.
Oat milk matcha latte is my favorite afternoon drink, when I need some energy boost in the afternoon.

Why you will love this recipe
- Home-made matcha latte costs less.
- It takes only a few minutes and a few ingredients to make.
- Matcha latte is so beautiful and so tasty
Ingredients
- Matcha Powder: you can use ceremonial grade (more vibrant green color) or culinary grade matcha powder to make your latte. I always use organic ceremonial grade to make my lattes. Culinary-grade matcha is better for baking.
- Hot Water: I use a little bit of hot water to brew matcha.
- Oat milk: full-fat oat milk is the best. It is creamy and froths so well without coffee shop quality equipment. You can also use any other type of milk.
- Sweetener: if you use unsweetened oat milk, add a teaspoon of your favorite sweetener. I often use coconut or cane sugar.
How to make oat milk matcha latte
Heat the Milk: First, add the measured amount of oat milk and coconut sugar to the small saucepan. Turn the heat on low and let it warm up to about 190°F Degrees or until almost boilng. If it starts boiling, no problem. Just take it off the heat and let it cool down for a minute before frothing.
Prepare Matcha: Measure the amount of matcha powder and add it to your bowl. Pour hot water (not boiling!) over your matcha. Matcha needs 165-185°C water for intense flavor. After that, use a bamboo special whisk or regular kitchen whisk (like I do) to work on your matcha shot. Whisk it in an M or W shape until no clumps are left and you have a shot of vibrant matcha. Transfer match to the mug.
Froth the Oat Milk: I use a small electrical milk frother to blend hot oat milk in a saucepan until the foam appears. Oat milk is the best plant milk to froth for lattes or cappuccinos.
Other ways to forth the oat milk
French Press Method: pour the hot milk into your french press by moving the plunger up and down until the foam appears.
Blender: pour the hot milk into your blender and run it on high until you have the needed amount of frothy foam.
Create Matcha: Now, pour the milk over your matcha shot to create a delicious and beautiful oat milk match latte. Enjoy!
